The appellation

The Vineyard of Chassagne-Montrachet is located the southernmost of the Côte de Beaune, in the extension of that of Puligny-Montrachet. The penultimate village of the Côte d'Or before Santenay, the eastern slope of Chassagne offers a pink marble quarry on the hillside, which can be found in the Louvre in particular.

The Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie appellation covers a total area of 11.6101 ha, divided into 3 places called: La Maltroie (6.8992 ha), Les Places (2.4087 ha), Ez Crets (2 , 3022 ha). Our 0.2025 ha plot is part of the smallest place called Ez Crets.

Taken from the medieval Latin name martyre-tum which was the “burial place of the martyrs or witness of Christ, Christian cemetery”, La Maltroie is located near the passage of the old Roman roads coming from Santenay and heading towards Puligny-Montrachet.
Our plot is located in the heart of the village of Chassagne-Montrachet on a large limestone vein which gives it its beautiful mineral character, against a background of exotic notes.
