N°72. SPECIAL HARVESTS 2023
2023 harvests, six months later…
We take a look back at the arrival of a unique vintage! The spring and
summer were hot, alternating between sunshine and summer rain,
windy with very low nitrogen levels, all factors that together produced
healthy, generous grapes. Our harvests began on 30th August and
finished on 28th September, a definite first!
♦ ♦ AN INTENSE
The impressive quantities also forced to us to ensure unprecedented FIVE-WEEK SAGA
levels of organisation! These fantastic volumes were paired with
remarkable quality levels, although with some variation in certain
red varieties. The grapes were in an almost perfect state of health and ♦ 2023 MATURATION,
sorting was virtually non-existent.
♦ THE CELLAR
As always, express fermentation took place naturally with native yeast. MASTER’S YEAR!
Pressing released magnificent colours and an abundance of hugely contents
expressive red fruit aromas.
♦ ♦ THE VINES THIS WINTER:
In the cellar, our cellar master Jean-Luc had the job of puzzling out A WELL-EARNED REST
placement, juggling barrels up to five levels high, bearing in mind AND CAREFUL
that the 2022s were already taking up a lot of space… MAINTENANCE
♦
These harvests will be remembered for the huge potential of their
generous juices, with the whites in perfect harmony. After six months ♦ 2022 MATURATION,
of maturation in the cellar, the wines are far from complete and have
not even been tasted yet, as we are focusing on bottling the 2022s… WINTER BOTTLING
Nevertheless, these wines are working hard and the first examples are
expected to be bottled in July.
